Abu Dhabi has introduced a significant initiative that aims to map noise levels across the emirate. The project, launched by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), is expected to identify a range of noise sources and pinpoint the most affected residential districts.

According to the Abu Dhabi media office, the information gathered through the initiative will also help the agency rate the impact on each district and use the data to create a map to target the most affected areas. Eng. Faisal Al Hammadi, Executive Director of the Environmental Quality Sector at EAD, said in a statement that the detailed scientific data from various locations will help authorities develop temporary and permanent mitigation measures.

Additionally, a Noise Committee has also been formed, comprising more than 10 government entities. The objective of the committee is to use the project’s findings to explore effective noise mitigation strategies. “We started to monitor ambient noise in the emirate since 2007 through our air quality monitoring network and the current initiative is a continuation of our commitment to improve the environment," Faisal Al Hammadi added in the statement.
