DEWA signed an MoU with Parkin to expand the number of EV Green Charger stations in several prime locations

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is all set to expand its EV Green Charger initiative. As part of this, DEWA signed an MoU with Parkin, the largest supplier of paid public parking facilities in the emirate, to expand the number of EV Green Charger stations in several prime locations.

With this move, DEWA aims to improve the customer experience by facilitating convenient vehicle charging and promoting the use of electric vehicles. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said that the EV Green Charger initiative supports the National Electric Vehicles Policy and the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030. "By the end of April 2024, the number of electric vehicles in Dubai reached over 30,000 vehicles. This number is expected to increase in the coming years, reflecting Dubai’s success in fostering the use of sustainable and environmentally friendly transport," added Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer. DEWA CEO also said that the number of registered customers in the EV Green Charger initiative had also increased to over 15,000 by the end of March this year.

By installing EV Green Charger stations in prime locations managed by Parkin, EV customers are expected to get easy access to charging facilities. This initiative also supports the recently unveiled Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033. The MoU was signed by Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, and Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin. Ahmed Bahrozyan, Chairman of Parkin’s Board of Directors, said that their parking facilities will play a major role in supporting the global transition to EV. It is worth mentioning that since 2015 until the end of March 2024, DEWA has provided nearly 26,000 MWh of electricity for charging EVs in Dubai.
