Google To Launch AI Overviews In India

Google announced that it is expanding the AI-powered search summaries to six more countries, including India. The tech giant launched AI Overviews in Search in May to help people quickly discover information on the web. Initially, the feature was available only in the United States.

Google's AI Overview was launched to integrate AI generated answers along with the traditional web searches. Apart from India, the feature will also be available in the United Kingdom, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil, along with local language support in each country. In India, the search giant is rolling out AI Overviews in English and Hindi and is also introducing popular India-first features. Users will be able to easily switch between English and Hindi results with the language toggle button and listen to responses with Text-To-Speech by tapping the 'Listen' button.

"We’ll be rolling this expansion out gradually over the course of several weeks, with a focus on maintaining Search's high bar for information quality," said the company in a blog post. Google also mentioned that Indian users listen to AI Overviews responses more often than other countries. Meanwhile, the search giant is also testing the addition of links to relevant web pages directly within the text of AI Overviews.
