As per the LMC report, a bi-annual benchmarking study jointly produced by DNV and Menon Economics, Dubai has moved up two places compared to the previous report in 2022. At the same time, Abu Dhabi has secured its place within the top 25 of maritime cities worldwide, jumping 10 places since 2022 to reach position 22.
The recently released report mentioned that Dubai's rise in the Leading Maritime Capitals index for 2024 is attributed to five key factors. This includes shipping centres, maritime technology, ports and logistics, attractiveness and competitiveness, as well as financial and legal aspects. The LMC report also highlighted the emirate's accent on green technology in the maritime sector. On the other hand, Abu Dhabi’s growth has been driven by strong gains in attractiveness and competitiveness and enhancement in shipping pillars.
