Two Indians Working With Russian Army Killed In Ukraine
|MEA also urged Indian nationals to exercise caution while seeking employment opportunities in Russia
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Tuesday that two Indians, recruited by the Russian Army, were killed in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The ministry also said in a statement that India has strongly taken up the matter with Russia and sought the early release and return of all Indian nationals who are with the Russian Army.
"India has also demanded that there be a verified stop to any further recruitment of our nationals by the Russian Army. Such activities would not be in consonance with our partnership," added the External Affairs Ministry. MEA also urged Indian nationals to exercise caution while seeking employment opportunities in Russia.
In May, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested four individuals for their alleged involvement in trafficking Indian nationals to Russia. On that occasion, the CBI reportedly stated that these traffickers have been operating as an "organized network" and were luring Indian nationals through social media channels and also through their local contacts and agents for highly paid jobs in Russia.
