The UAE passport has entered the top 10 on the list of the world’s most powerful passports. As per the latest Henley Passport Index, the UAE passport ranks 9th, offering visa-free access to 185 countries. It is worth mentioning that the country climbed 53 places since 2006 in the Henley Passport Index.
During the last 18 years, the UAE has added 152 destinations to its visa-free access list. Dr. Juerg Steffen, CEO of Henley & Partners, said that the UAE's notable rise in the index “is the result of deliberate and concerted efforts by the Emirati government to position the UAE as a global hub for business, tourism, and investment." He also said in the statement that countries with higher visa-free scores tend to enjoy greater GDP per capita, increased foreign direct investment, and more robust international trade relationships.
Meanwhile, India's passport ranked 82nd on the list, and it gives visa-free access to 58 countries. Singapore has reclaimed its title as the world’s most powerful passport in the latest ranking, as the country's passport provides visa-free access to 195 destinations. France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Japan are in the second place, each with visa-free access to 192 countries.
