Elon Musk, the owner of X, has severely criticised Nicolas Maduro recently and has called Maduro a "dictator."

Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro reportedly said on Thursday that he has signed a resolution to block access to social media platform X in the country for 10 days. The South American nation is currently witnessing protests since the electoral authority declared Nicolas Maduro as the winner of the presidential election. However, this declaration was immediately dismissed by the opposition.

"X get out of Venezuela for 10 days!" Maduro said in a speech that was broadcast on state television, as quoted by Reuters. Elon Musk, the owner of X, has severely criticised Nicolas Maduro recently and has called Maduro a "dictator." On the other hand, Nicolas Maduro has blamed the billionaire for being a driving force behind recent protests following the presidential election. Nicolas Maduro has also recently asked his supporters to remove WhatsApp from their phones.

Widespread protests broke out in Venezuela as the election authority, without providing the voting tallies, said that Maduro won a third term. Countries including the United States and Argentina refused to recognize the victory of Maduro. According to rights group Human Rights Watch, at least 20 people have been killed so far in the post-election protests.
