Women's T20 Asia Cup To Kick Off On July 19

The Women's T20 Asia Cup tournament is all set to begin on Friday, July 19, in Sri Lanka. The ninth edition of the continental event will feature eight teams. Team India, the seven-time champions, reached Sri Lanka on Wednesday ahead of the tournament.
All teams are divided into two groups, and India and Pakistan are placed in Group A along with Nepal and the UAE. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Thailand are the teams in Group B. The teams will play three games each, and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals, which will be held on July 26. The final will be held on July 28 in Dambulla. Notably, the tournament comes ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is slated to be held in October in Bangladesh.
On the opening day of the tournament, UAE will face Nepal, followed by India vs Pakistan. After facing Pakistan, Team India will be up against the UAE and Nepal on July 21 and 23, respectively. India are entering the tournament as the defending champions after defeating Sri Lanka in 2022. India's 15-member squad will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur.
