G7 Summit: PM Modi To Meet Pope Francis
Pope Francis will be the first pope to participate in G7 discussions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Italy to attend the Outreach Session of the G7 Summit. PM Modi is expected to meet Pope Francis on the sidelines of the G7 summit. Notably, this is PM Modi's first international trip since assuming office for the third term. He will also hold bilateral talks on a wide range of issues with world leaders.
The summit, held in Italy’s Apulia region, is likely to focus on pressing global challenges, including the Russia-Ukraine war and the Israel-Hamas conflict. Top leaders from all G7 countries, including the United States, Britain, Germany, Japan, Canada, France, and Italy, are attending the meeting. The Outreach Session of the summit will be focused on issues surrounding artificial intelligence, energy, Africa and the Mediterranean. It is worth mentioning that India has attended ten G7 summits in the past.
Meanwhile, Pope Francis will be the first pope to participate in G7 discussions. The Vatican said in a statement that Pope Francis will participate in discussions related to the ethical implications of artificial intelligence. Apart from PM Modi, Pope Francis will also hold bilateral conversations with other world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and France's Emmanuel Macron.
