Mortal Remains Of Kuwait Fire Victims Arrive In Kerala
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan paid tribute to the mortal remains outside the airport cargo terminal
The Indian Air Force aircraft carrying the bodies of 45 Indians who died in a massive fire in Kuwait reached Kerala on Friday. The mortal remains of 31 people were handed over to officials in Kerala, and the remaining 14 bodies will be sent to Delhi on the same aircraft. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan paid tribute to the mortal remains outside the airport cargo terminal.
Union Minister of State External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, Kerala's Opposition leader VD Satheeshan, Union Minister Suresh Gopi, and leaders of various political parties also arrived at the Cochin International Airport to offer tributes. Notably, the State police gave a guard of honour at the airport. The mortal remains of 31 people arrived in the airport, of which 23 were from Kerala, 7 from Tamil Nadu, and 1 from Karnataka. Tamil Nadu Minister Gingee KS Masthan also reached the airport to pay tributes. Special ambulances were provided for the transportation of the mortal remains to their respective districts.
At least 45 Indians died in the massive fire that erupted in a six-storied building in Kuwait's Mangaf city on Wednesday. The Kuwaiti Fire Force said the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.
