US Likely To Ban DeepSeek From Government Devices: Report
X

The United States is reportedly considering a ban on AI chatbot DeepSeek from government devices due to national security concerns. The Wall Street Journal, citing unnamed sources, reported on Friday that US officials are worried about DeepSeek's handling of user data, which the firm says it stores on servers located in China.

The report also mentioned that the Donald Trump-led administration may also restrict the Chinese app from app stores and put limits on how US-based cloud service providers could offer DeepSeek's AI models to their users. Notably, discussions on this matter are still at an early stage. The White House has not yet officially responded to this matter.

Apart from the US, South Korea, Taiwan, and Australia have also banned the chatbot from all government devices. Data protection authorities in some countries have also posed questions to DeepSeek regarding how it handles citizens' personal information.
