93% Of Lok Sabha Election Winners Are Millionaires: ADR Report

According to a recent report by poll rights body Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), 93 percent of the candidates who won the recently concluded 2024 Lok Sabha elections are millionaires. The analysis, released on Thursday, indicates that a total of 504 out of the 543 candidates are millionaires.
The top three wealthiest candidates as per the report are TDP's Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani from Andhra Pradesh's Guntur constituency, BJP's Konda Vishweshwar Reddy from Telangana's Chevella and BJP's Naveen Jindal from Haryana's Kurukshetra. TDP’s Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani tops the chart with assets worth ₹ 5,705 crore. Meanwhile, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy has assets amounting to ₹ 4,568 crore, and Naveen Jindal's assets are worth ₹ 1,241 crore, as per the ADR analysis. In 2019, 475 winning candidates were millionaires.
The analysis also mentioned that 227 (95%) of the BJP's 240 winning candidates have declared assets worth more than Rs 1 crore. Similarly, 92 (93%) out of 99 winning candidates from Congress, 21 (95%) out of 22 winning candidates from DMK, and 12 (100%) out of 12 winning candidates fielded by JD(U) have declared assets worth more than Rs 1 crore. The data also revealed that 42% of the candidates possess assets totalling ₹ 10 crore and above. At the same time, 19% of the candidates fall within the bracket of Rs 5 to 10 crore, and 32% of the candidates hold assets ranging between Rs 1 and 5 crore.
