Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the world. The use of AI technology in various sectors, including governments, organisations and security frameworks, is drastically on the rise. Dubai Police recently made an announcement regarding the integration of AI systems into 29 administrative operations across various departments. This move is expected to optimise time and effort for both employees and customers while enhancing Dubai's security framework.

The initiative leverages the annual 'Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence', which comprises programmes to strengthen the emirate's economic competitiveness, resilience, and future readiness. Major General Khalid Nasser Alrazooqi, Director of the General Department of AI at Dubai Police, said that the department is developing a 'Smart Planning for Minor Traffic Accidents' mechanism using AI technologies. Khalid Nasser Alrazooqi also added that this will enable the analysis of accidents and the generation of immediate reports for drivers without human intervention.

Dubai Police is also integrating AI into the "Vehicle History Record." This helps prospective buyers easily access a vehicle's accident history. "Amna," a virtual officer capable of interacting with the public and answering inquiries in both Arabic and English, is one of the prominent AI applications of Dubai Police. Amna, which is available on the Dubai Police app, responds to inquiries about police services through voice commands. Notably, Amna conducted 20,000 conversations with the public in 2023.

The updated Dubai Police smart app also incorporates AI features. This smart app offers 70 services and has been developed using the latest programming languages and AI. According to the Dubai Media Office, the force also uses AI and blockchain technology for "lost passport certificate" transactions.
