Lok Sabha Election Results: Union Minister Smriti Irani Trails In Amethi

Trends in the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency have left the NDA shocked. According to the Election Commission's latest data, Union Minister Smriti Irani is trailing by more than 95960 votes in the constituency. As of 2:35 pm, Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma is leading in Amethi by securing 335943 votes. Notably, it is one of the most prestigious battles of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

In the previous general polls, the BJP leader registered a historic win from Amethi. Notably, Amethi had been a long-time stronghold of Congress. Amethi marked a 54.40 voter turnout in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. A total of 13 candidates are contesting from Amethi this time. Similarly, several constituencies, which were earlier considered the big bastion of the saffron party, are currently witnessing a neck-and-neck battle between the NDA and the INDIA bloc.

Kishori Lal Sharma, who hails from Punjab, is one of the close associates of the Gandhi family. According to multiple reports, he played a significant role in Sonia Gandhi's maiden victory from Amethi in 1999.
