Bill Gates Backs Kamala Harris With $50 Million Donation: Report
The billionaire made the donation to Future Forward, the main outside fund-raising group supporting Democratic candidate Kamala Harris
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has reportedly donated about $50 million to a nonprofit organization supporting Kamala Harris' US presidential run. According to a New York Times report, the billionaire, in private calls this year to friends and others, has expressed concern about what a second Donald Trump presidency would look like.
As per the report, the billionaire made the donation to Future Forward, the main outside fund-raising group supporting Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. The donation was meant to stay under wraps. It is worth mentioning that Bill Gates has not publicly endorsed Kamala Harris. The report also mentioned that the billionaire, who does not have a deep relationship with Harris, has celebrated the Joe Biden-led US government's work on climate change.
“I support candidates who demonstrate a clear commitment to improving health care, reducing poverty, and fighting climate change in the U.S. and around the world,” Bill Gates told The New York Times while responding to the report. He also said that “this election is different" and added that he supports candidates who demonstrate a clear commitment to improving health care and reducing poverty. A Forbes report states that 50 billionaires, including Elon Musk, have backed Trump so far, while 81 billionaires have backed Kamala Harris.
