Former US president Donald Trump said that he would offer Elon Musk a cabinet position or an advisory role in his administration if he wins a second term in the White House. In an interview with Reuters, the Republican nominee also said that if elected, he would consider ending a $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicle purchases.

"He's a very smart guy. I certainly would, if he would do it, I certainly would. He's a brilliant guy," Trump said when asked if he would consider naming Tesla CEO to an advisory role or cabinet position. In July, Elon Musk publicly endorsed Trump in the US presidential race. Meanwhile, Elon Musk responded to the Republican former president's statement with a social media post that read, "I am willing to serve."

It is worth mentioning that last week, Donald Trump sat for a friendly two-hour interview with Elon Musk on Musk's social media platform X. During the conversation, the tech billionaire praised Trump for his bravery during the attempt on his life last month, and Trump congratulated Elon Musk for his willingness to fire workers demanding better conditions, reported Reuters. The US election is scheduled to be held on November 5.
