Dubai Police made an important announcement that they will waive all traffic fines incurred by motorists on April 16. Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, made this announcement on Wednesday, April 24.
Dubai Police made this decision as the city witnessed extreme weather conditions last Tuesday. The police also mentioned that the decision to waive the traffic violations reflects their commitment to the community and to ensuring their safety, especially during exceptional circumstances.

Earlier on Monday, Sharjah also announced the cancellation of all traffic violation fines incurred during the period of unstable weather. It was announced by Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, the Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police. Last week, the United Arab Emirates experienced its heaviest rainfall in 75 years.
Notably, the UAE Cabinet approved an allocation of 2 billion dirhams to address the damages suffered by citizens' homes. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. A ministerial committee has also been set up to evaluate damages and distribute compensation.
