Emiratisation Targets: UAE Sets June 30 As Deadline
MoHRE also urged firms that have yet to meet their targets to take advantage of the Nafis Programme’s digital platform
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) of the UAE has confirmed June 30 as the final deadline for meeting Emiratisation targets for the first half of 2024. The deadline is applicable for private sector companies employing 50 or more workers. The Ministry also stated earlier that from July 1, it will monitor the level of compliance among companies in terms of meeting their required targets.
According to the Emirates News Agency report, the emiratisation targets aim for 1% growth in UAE citizens in skilled jobs at companies with 50 or more employees in accordance with the Council of Ministers decisions. Additionally, MoHRE also urged firms that have yet to meet their targets to take advantage of the Nafis Programme’s digital platform. Notably, the platform comprises data about qualified Emirati nationals seeking employment across various specialisations.
The Ministry earlier identified 1,379 companies attempting to circumvent Emiratisation targets, unlawfully hiring 2,170 UAE citizens during the period from mid-2022 until May 16, 2024. MoHRE mentioned this data in a statement released on May 21. The violating companies were fined, and their ratings were also downgraded.
