Google announced that the Gemini assistant will officially replace its classic Google Assistant on most devices later this year. According to a blog post released by the software giant on Friday, Google Assistant will no longer be accessible on most mobile devices or available from app stores.

"Additionally, we’ll be upgrading tablets, cars and devices that connect to your phone, such as headphones and watches, to Gemini," said the company in the post. Google also said it will share more details “in the next few months.” Google initially introduced Google Assistant in 2016. At the same time, according to a 9To5Google report, there will be an exception for devices running Android 9 or earlier and do not have at least 2 GB of RAM, with the existing Google Assistant experience remaining in place for those users.
