Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has urged all educational institutions to remain flexible and continue to offer distance learning for those still facing challenges from the storms. KHDA has taken this decision after the region witnessed unprecedented weather conditions.
“As our education community prepares to resume on-site learning, we ask all Dubai private schools, universities and nurseries to remain flexible and accommodating to the needs of students, teachers, and staff and continue offering distance learning for those facing ongoing logistical challenges after the severe weather," wrote KHDA in a post on its X handle on April 21.

Last week, the United Arab Emirates received its highest rainfall in 75 years. The unstable weather resulted in flooding in various locations and also disrupted air travel, as Dubai International Airport was forced to divert and cancel several incoming flights. The weather also disrupted on-site classes at schools and forced them to adopt distance learning. At the same time, Emirates News Agency reported that Sharjah's emergency, crisis and disaster management team has also decided to extend the distance learning system for private schools in the emirate for Monday, April 22.
