Lionel Messi, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, is planning to end his career with Inter Miami. In a recent interview with ESPN Argentina, Messi shared his thoughts on life after football. The 36-year-old also admitted that winning the 2022 World Cup provided a fresh perspective on his career and his ability.
"I'm not prepared to leave football, I did this all my life, I enjoy the trainings, the games. The fear that everything's is going to be over, it's always there. I think Inter Miami is going to be my last club," Messi said in the interview. "I try to enjoy it. I do that more now because I'm aware that there's not a lot of time left. So I have a good time with the club, being lucky having good teammates and friends at my side," Messi added.
It is worth mentioning that the Argentinian legend's contract with Inter Miami expires in December 2025. Lionel Messi signed with Inter Miami in July 2023. In the ongoing season, Messi has recorded 12 goals and provided 13 assists. Meanwhile, Messi is also set to represent Argentina at the Copa America tournament, which will kick off on June 21 in the United States.
