NEOM Awards WeBuild SAR 20 Billion Contract to Construct Dams at Trojena Resort

NEOM, Saudi Arabia - In a significant development for the Trojena resort project, NEOM has awarded Italian contractor WeBuild a SAR 20 billion contract to construct dams, according to MEED reports on January 15.

The main dam at Trojena will reach an impressive height of 145 meters and span 475 meters in length at its crest. The construction will utilize approximately 2.7 million cubic meters of roller compact concrete (RCC), ensuring its stability and durability.

As part of the project's design, a secondary dam within the planned lake will be built using around 650,000 cubic meters of RCC. This innovative addition aims to create an island below the water level, enhancing the resort's unique features.

Additionally, a third dam with dimensions of 65 meters in height and 490 meters in length at its crest will be constructed using approximately 4.15 million cubic meters of rockfill material.

MEED also reported that the scope of work includes establishing the lakebed line and laying foundations for the Bow Building. This remarkable concrete structure is positioned at one end of the lake and will overhang the valley below while incorporating a luxurious hotel.

Trojena was launched as a new global destination for mountain tourism by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on March 3,2022. The ambitious project boasts captivating features such as a stunning man-made freshwater lake known as 'The Bow,' along with The Vault—a vertical village nestled within mountains that seamlessly integrates technology, entertainment, and hospitality facilities serving as TROJENA's primary gateway.

Furthermore,Trojena's development encompasses Slope Residences situated near ski slopes overlooking the picturesque lake. These residences are meticulously designed to blend harmoniously with their natural surroundings. Luxurious mansions offering panoramic views have also been incorporated into this visionary project, reflecting the beauty of the environment.

Located in the heart of NEOM, Trojena is positioned 50 kilometers from the Gulf of Aqaba coast. The region is characterized by a mountain range boasting Saudi Arabia's highest peaks, reaching approximately 2,600 meters above sea level.
