Ilya Sutskever, a renowned researcher and co-founder of OpenAI, has announced the launch of his new artificial intelligence (AI) firm. Ilya Sutskever's new venture, Safe Superintelligence Inc. (SSI), comes shortly after his departure from OpenAI. The company was co-founded with former Y Combinator partner Daniel Gross and ex-OpenAI engineer Daniel Levy.

"We will pursue safe superintelligence in a straight shot, with one focus, one goal, and one product. We will do it through revolutionary breakthroughs produced by a small cracked team," Ilya Sutskever wrote in a post on X on June 19. The launch of the new company comes at a crucial time as big tech firms are competing for dominance in the field of generative AI. The company, with offices in Palo Alto and Tel Aviv, is reportedly being designed from the ground up as a for-profit entity.

Safe Superintelligence aims to enhance capabilities rapidly while ensuring that safety remains paramount. In May, Ilya Sutskever made headlines by leaving ChatGPT maker OpenAI. He has played a significant role in the company since its earliest days. Ilya Sutskever was one of the four board members who voted to push out CEO Sam Altman from the company last year.
