Paris Olympics: Manu Bhaker And Sarabjot Singh Secure Bronze In Mixed 10m Air Pistol
With the latest achievement, the 22-year-old became the first Indian athlete to win two medals in one single Olympic edition.
India won the second medal at the ongoing Paris Olympics on Tuesday. Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh secured the bronze medal in the mixed 10 meters air pistol event by defeating South Korea's Oh Ye Jin and Lee Wonho. Two days earlier, Manu Bhaker had won India’s first medal in the Paris Olympics. With the latest achievement, the 22-year-old became the first Indian athlete to win two medals in one single Olympic edition.
It is worth mentioning that this was India’s first-ever Olympic medal in a shooting team event. Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh overcame their opponents with a score of 16-10. India's star shooters had 19 of their 26 shots hit at least a 10, while the South Koreans had 12 shots hit a minimum of 10. Meanwhile, Manu Bhaker is also set to participate in the women's 25m pistol event.
This marks 22-year-old Sarabjot Singh's first Olympic medal. Sarabjot, who hails from Dheen village in Ambala, had won the Asian Games team gold and mixed team silver in 2023. He also won the individual bronze at the 2023 Asian Championships, through which he earned a spot in the Paris Olympics.
