The event, which kicked off on Thursday at King Saud University, will run until October 5.
The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission elevated the visitor experience at this year’s Riyadh International Book Fair as AI-operated robots, equipped to communicate in multiple languages, are stationed throughout the fair. The event, which kicked off on Thursday at King Saud University, will run until October 5.
The AI-operated robots will be able to assist visitors in navigating the fair, helping them locate various publishing houses and the specific books they seek. Apart from the multilingual support, these robots also offer audio summaries that highlight key themes and content of the books on display. Participating pavilions have fully embraced digital technology to cater to reading enthusiasts. According to Saudi Press Agency, several publishers have integrated interactive digital devices, AI-operated robots, and informative screens into their exhibitions.
At the same time, over 2,000 publishing houses from over 30 countries are participating in the Riyadh International Book Fair. Notably, Qatar is the guest of honor this year, offering visitors a rich cultural experience that showcases its literary and intellectual achievements, cultural heritage, history, and diverse arts.
