Saudi Aviation Strategy Aims to Reduce Transit Passengers and Boost Air Freight Capacity by 2030, Says GACA President
Focusing on growth, cargo, and India, Kingdom aims to transform air travel and logistics landscape
Riyadh - Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), announced that the Saudi aviation strategy seeks to limit transit passengers to just 10% of the projected 330 million passengers by 2030. The statement was made during his participation in a ministerial session held alongside the Wings India 2024 exhibition conference in India, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The Saudi Aviation Strategy aims to create a significant transformation in air freight and logistics services, with the goal of increasing air freight capacity from 0.8 million tons to 4.5 million tons by 2030. This ambitious initiative is intended to attract global air carriers, logistics service providers, and multinational companies to the Kingdom, emphasizing the importance of the logistics sector in the overall growth of the aviation industry.
Al-Duailej emphasized the Kingdom's recognition of the immense potential and promising opportunities presented by the Indian civil aviation market. Saudi Arabia is eager to participate in and benefit from enhancing air connectivity between India and the rest of the world. By increasing the volume of air links between the two countries, the goal is to establish a firm foundation for future development and strengthening of bilateral relations.
The strategic objective of reducing transit passengers aligns with Saudi Arabia's efforts to position itself as a major hub for international travel and improve the passenger experience. The focus on expanding air freight capacity reflects the Kingdom's commitment to enhancing its logistical capabilities and promoting economic growth in various sectors.
As the Saudi aviation industry continues to evolve, the implementation of the Saudi Aviation Strategy will contribute to the Kingdom's ambitious plans to enhance its aviation infrastructure and attract global players to foster mutually beneficial partnerships.
