Saudi Environmental Security Special Forces Apprehend Violators for Illegal Tree Cutting and Charcoal Production

Riyadh: In a significant operation, the Environmental Security Special Forces have successfully apprehended two Sudanese nationals who were found to be in violation of environmental laws. The individuals were caught cutting down trees, storing local firewood, and illegally converting it into charcoal within the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region. The authorities seized over 160 cubic meters of local firewood and charcoal from their possession.
The Special Forces confirmed that appropriate legal procedures have been initiated against the offenders. The confiscated quantities have been handed over to the competent authority at the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture for further action.
It is important to note that penalties for tree felling can reach up to 20,000 Saudi Riyals per tree. Similarly, penalties for storing or transporting local firewood and charcoal can amount to 16,000 Saudi Riyals per cubic meter.
The Environmental Security Special Forces urge individuals across the Kingdom to remain vigilant and promptly report any instances of environmental or wildlife violations. In case of witnessing such offenses in Makkah, Riyadh, and Sharqiya regions, citizens are encouraged to contact (911).
