Elon Musk and former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will be part of the upcoming Donald Trump-led US administration. DOGE, the acronym for the newly created department, is the name of the cryptocurrency that Elon Musk promotes. “Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies,” said the US president-elect in a statement. Trump also said that the team will drive out the massive waste and fraud that exists throughout the annual $6.5 trillion of government spending.
According to Donald Trump, Musk and Ramaswamy would conclude their work by July 4, 2026. He also added that a smaller and more efficient government would be a “gift” to the country on the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. At the same time, it is unclear how the new department will operate. The statement released by Trump indicated that Vivek Ramaswamy and Musk would “provide advice and guidance from outside of Government.”
