Video Game Revenues Exceed Movie And Music Revenues, Says Chairman Of Saudi Esports Federation
The esports industry is growing in popularity, attracting millions of fans and billions of dollars in investment
Prince Faisal bin Bandar Al Saud, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Electronic Sports Federation, said during the session, “How will electronic sports create a new world?” during the Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh that video game revenues are higher than movie and music revenues, and this is due to the very high interaction of young people with them.
“When we talk about the Middle East and North Africa region, we have about 250 million players who all speak one language, which gives us the opportunity to localize the Arab culture in video games, making us accessible to them, which will contribute to the growth of e-sports,” he added.
The esports industry is growing in popularity, attracting millions of fans and billions of dollars in investment, but its impact goes far beyond entertainment. Global gaming revenues, which include esports, are expected to exceed $300 billion by 2027, according to PwC.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Electronic Sports Federation added that Arabic content has begun to appear strongly in video games in recent years, and the best example is the Assassin's Creed and Fortnite games, in addition to the use of Arabic music that has begun to appear in some games.
