Visit of Indian Delegation Strengthens Bilateral Ties and Promotes Collaboration in Riyadh

Riyadh, February 8, 2024 - Ajay Bhatt, the State Minister of Defence and Tourism from India, successfully concluded his visit to Saudi Arabia after leading the Indian delegation at the World Defence Show 2024 in Riyadh. During his stay, Minister Bhatt engaged in various productive engagements, further strengthening the bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

On the final day of his visit, Minister Bhatt visited the General Authority for Defence Development (GADD) and met with its Governor, Dr. Faleh bin-Abdullah Al-Sulaiman. They engaged in fruitful discussions regarding potential areas for enhanced defence cooperation and possibilities for greater collaboration. Minister Bhatt extended an invitation to the GADD Governor to visit India at a convenient time, further fostering ties between the two countries.

Minister Bhatt also embarked on visits to the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and the headquarters of the Saudi Arabian Military Industry - Advanced Electronics Company (SAMI-AEC) in Riyadh. These visits provided Minister Bhatt with valuable insights into technological advancements and showcased the potential for strengthening defence ties between India and Saudi Arabia.

Moreover, Minister Bhatt explored the UNESCO World Heritage site, Al-Turaif, in Diriyah, appreciating the rich cultural history of the region and the shared legacy between India and Saudi Arabia.






A community event was organized at the Embassy of India in Riyadh in honor of Minister Bhatt. During this event, Minister Bhatt emphasized the Government of India's commitment to holistic development and empowering women in all fields. Additionally, Indian students from various CBSE affiliated schools in Riyadh showcased the vibrancy of India's heritage and the spirit of unity across borders through a cultural program.

Furthermore, Minister Bhatt arranged for women officers from the Indian Armed Forces, Squadron Leader Bhawana Kanth, Colonel Ponung Doming, and Lieutenant Commander Annu Prakash, to interact with over 700 Indian students. These inspirational women shared their remarkable stories of courage, passion, and success, enlightening the students about the opportunities available for women in the Indian Armed Forces.

The visit of the Indian delegation to Saudi Arabia has not only reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral ties between the two nations but also paved the way for extensive collaboration and shared commitments towards a safer and prosperous future.
