YouTube Music Rolls Out 'Hum To Search' Feature
Notably, the search tool was spotted in the YouTube Music for Android app version 7.02.
YouTube Music is rolling out a much-awaited feature that allows users to search for the songs stuck in their heads by just humming. The new feature will reportedly respond to both hums and a melody played on an instrument to look for a song. Notably, the search tool was spotted in the YouTube Music for Android app version 7.02. There is no announcement regarding when the iOS counterpart will receive this update.
To access the Hum to Search feature, users can tap on the magnifying glass search icon in the top-right corner of the app. Users will be able to see a new waveform icon next to the microphone. Tapping the icon opens up a new page that says, “Play sing, or hum a song." YouTube Music will analyze the audio you provided and show details such as the song, artist, year, and album. 9to5Google reported that artificial intelligence (AI) is used “to match the sound to the original recording.”
As per the report, Google started testing this useful feature on YouTube Music in March 2024. The tech giant has already rolled out this feature in other apps, including Search and YouTube.
