Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, has launched the Middle East’s first-of-its-kind drone delivery system at Dubai Silicon Oasis. Drone delivery is expected to cover 33% of the emirate by 2030, positioning Dubai as a pioneer in smart mobility.

The launch of the drone delivery system marks the completion of a joint project between the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), and Dubai Future Foundation (DFF). Sheikh Hamdan placed the first order using the drone delivery system through the platform from the Rochester Institute of Technology-Dubai (RIT-Dubai).

"Dubai is committed to driving innovation and using technology to serve people, businesses, and communities. This supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33’s goal to transform Dubai into one of the world’s top three urban economies by 2033," said the Crown Prince in a post on X. "What we implement today will set a global benchmark for the cities of the future," Sheikh Hamdan added.
