ICBF Hosts Successful Mental Health and Stress Awareness Workshop

Doha: The Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF), under the aegis of the Embassy of India in Qatar, organized a highly impactful "Mental Health and Stress Awareness Workshop" on Thursday, September 26, at the ICBF Kanjani Hall. The workshop, led by George V Joy, Counselor & Psychotherapist and NM Research Scientist at Hamad Medical Corporation, aimed to equip participants with effective strategies to manage stress and improve their mental well-being.

ICBF Vice President Deepak Shetty opened the event with a welcome speech, emphasizing the importance of mental health and its significance alongside physical well-being. In his presidential address, ICBF President Shanavas Bava acknowledged that while stress is a natural part of life, with the right mindset, it can serve as a source of strength. He noted that the workshop would offer valuable tools for managing stress, helping individuals lead more balanced and healthier lives.

The event also honored newly elected IBPC President Thaha Mohammed, who commended ICBF’s ongoing efforts in organizing various awareness initiatives. In his address, he emphasized that when properly managed, stress can be transformed into a catalyst for success.

The one-and-a-half-hour session led by George V Joy was a highlight of the event. His engaging presentation style and practical strategies for turning stress into strength captivated the audience. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where participants received personalized advice on managing stress in their daily routines.

ICBF General Secretary Varkey Boban, who coordinated the event, noted that this workshop was part of ICBF’s 40th anniversary celebrations. A total of 40 events are scheduled throughout the year, and this workshop marked the 27th in the series.

ICBF Managing Committee member Abdul Raoof Kondotty delivered the vote of thanks, with additional coordination provided by ICBF Managing Committee members Zareena Ahad and Neelambari Sushanth, along with ICBF Advisory Council member T. Ramaselvam.

The workshop was a resounding success, with a full house and participants engaged throughout the session. ICBF continues to lead the way in promoting mental health and well-being in the community through such meaningful events.
