Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy Announces App Olympics
Registration for the App Olympics is open until November 13.
The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy has announced the launch of the App Olympics, a competition part of the ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ initiative. The competition features four award categories. This includes Best Youth App, Most Impactful App, Most Innovative App, and Industry of the Year – Mobile Gaming. Registration for the App Olympics is open until November 13.
"With Dubai's remarkable achievements across all sectors, especially in the digital economy field, which serves as a key pillar in achieving the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), announcing the launch of the App Olympics," wrote Sheikh Hamdan, the Crown Prince of Dubai, in a post on X. The competition is open to entrants of any age from anywhere around the world. Notably, the prizes include financial rewards, digital service packages worth $150,000, and participation in a six-month mentorship programme.
The 'Create Apps in Dubai’ initiative was launched by Sheikh Hamdan in March 2023. The project, overseen by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, aims to train over 1,000 Emiratis on the fundamentals of coding, building mobile applications, and business creation models through the Emirati Training Academy. Additionally, the initiative also seeks to increase Dubai's app development workforce by threefold by 2025.
