OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Search Engine
ChatGPT will choose to search the web based on what users ask, or users can manually choose to search by clicking the web search icon.
OpenAI has added new search functions to its popular large language model ChatGPT. The Sam Altman-led startup launched ChatGPT search to compete with search engines like Google and Bing. The chatbot will now be able to access and deliver information from across the internet in real time, including news, sports scores, and stock prices.
ChatGPT will choose to search the web based on what users ask, or users can manually choose to search by clicking the web search icon. ChatGPT Plus and Team users will get access to this feature on mobile and the web on the initial stage. Meanwhile, Enterprise and Edu users will get access in the next few weeks, followed by free users.

OpenAI said that its new technology would respond to questions with up-to-date information from the web while also providing links to relevant sources. "You can get fast, timely answers with links to relevant web sources, which you would have previously needed to go to a search engine for," said the company in a blog post. Meanwhile, Sam Altman described search as his “favourite feature” since launching the original ChatGPT AI chatbot two years ago.
