Saudi Arabia has achieved a noteworthy milestone in the field of artificial intelligence. The Kingdom has secured 14th place globally and the top spot in the Arab world in the Global AI Index for 2024, published by Tortoise Intelligence. This significant 17-rank improvement among 83 countries highlights the country's rapid progress in AI adoption and development.
According to Saudi Press Agency report, the Global AI Index is a comprehensive assessment of AI capabilities across 83 countries, and it evaluates performance based on 122 indicators grouped into three pillars. This includes implementation, innovation, and investment. Notably, these pillars are further divided into seven sub-pillars, including talent, infrastructure, operating environment, research, development, government strategy, and commercial ecosystem.

Saudi Arabia's continued leadership in the Government Strategy sub-pillar solidifies its position as a global AI leader. Its seventh-place ranking in the Commercial Ecosystem sub-pillar further demonstrates its commitment to investing in AI technologies and promoting a thriving AI ecosystem. With several countries relying heavily on AI to shape their present and build their future, Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has been leading the national AI and data agenda since its establishment in 2019.
