Google Begins Pixel 8 Production In India Ahead Of Pixel 9 Launch

Tech giant Google made a significant announcement that the production of Pixel 8 devices has commenced in India. Google made the announcement via social media post on Monday. At the same time, the company is expected to launch the Pixel 9 series at its 'Made by Google' hardware launch event today. 

"Excited to announce that the first of our Made in India Google Pixel8 devices have started rolling off the production lines," wrote Google in a post on X. At the same time, TechCrunch reported that the local manufacturing is currently limited to the Pixel 8 and does not include the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 8a. Notably, Google's latest announcement comes nearly 10 months after revealing its domestic manufacturing plans for the devices. At the Google for India event in October 2023, Google confirmed that the company would start the assembly of the Pixel 8 in the country by 2024. 

Meanwhile, during today's event, Google is likely to introduce the Pixel 9 series, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and Pixel Watch 3. The event will begin at 10:30 pm IST at the company’s headquarters in California. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold, successor to the Pixel Fold, is expected to be the major highlight of the event.
