Grace Marks Given To 1,563 NEET Candidates Will Be Cancelled, Centre Informs SC
These students will also be given the option to take a re-test, which will be held on June 23
Following the controversy surrounding the NEET-UG 2024 examination, the central government informed the Supreme Court that it had decided to cancel the grace marks awarded to 1563 students. These students will also be given the option to take a re-test, which will be held on June 23, and its results will be notified by June 30.
At the same time, if these students chose not to take the re-test, their original scores would remain, but without counting grace marks. According to a LiveLaw report, Centre told the apex court that the decision was taken by the panel constituted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on June 12 to "allay the fears of the students." The Supreme Court was hearing petitions questioning the manner in which the NEET was held this year. The Court also noted that its decision will not halt the counselling process for NEET-UG 2024.
Over 24 lakh students appeared for this year's NEET exam on May 5. The result was declared on June 4, and candidates raised multiple issues immediately, including irregularities in the test.
