IPL 2025 Mega Auction To Be Held In Jeddah
It is one of the major events as the ten IPL franchises build their squads for the next three years (2025–27).
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction is set to take place in Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah on November 24 and 25. A total of 1574 players, including 1165 Indian and 409 overseas, had registered for the mega auction. The event is being held overseas for the second successive year, as the 2024 auction was in Dubai.
It is worth mentioning that the highly anticipated auction will clash with the third and fourth days of the first Test between India and Australia in Perth. The Perth Test will kick off on November 22. Unlike regular auctions, the mega auction takes place every three years. It is one of the major events as the ten IPL franchises build their squads for the next three years (2025–27).
The auction list includes 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations. Among the 409 overseas players, South Africa leads the registrations with 91 players, followed by Australia with 76. Each franchise will be able to build a squad of up to 25 players, which means there are 204 slots available at the auction. Each franchise has a total purse of INR 120 crore. Meanwhile, 46 players have been retained by the 10 franchises.
