Jeddah All Set To Host Saudi Smash 2024
The 10-day tournament is organized by the Saudi Table Tennis Federation under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports and in collaboration with the WTT.
Jeddah is gearing up for the Saudi Smash 2024 table tennis championship. The prestigious tournament, scheduled to take place from May 1 to May 11, is the second Grand Smash event on this year’s World Table Tennis Organization calendar. The 10-day tournament is organized by the Saudi Table Tennis Federation under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports and in collaboration with the WTT.
The Saudi Smash consists of a 64-player men’s and women’s singles main draw and 24-pair main draws for men’s, women's, and mixed doubles. According to WTT, from May 1 to 3, 64-player singles qualifying will determine the eight players who advance to the respective singles main draw competitions. Elite players from around the world will participate in the tournament.
The event is expected to inspire a new generation of table tennis players and contribute to the sport's growth at the local level, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to promote sports and integrate them into the community's lifestyle. WTT earlier mentioned that Saudi Arabia is considered one of the fastest growing countries in world sport, with sporting activity becoming an increasingly important part of daily life. With up to four WTT Grand Smashes a year planned for the WTT calendar, Saudi Arabia joins Singapore as the second WTT Grand Smash host in 2024.
