The latest opinion poll indicates that US Vice President Kamala Harris holds a narrow lead over her Republican rival Donald Trump in the upcoming US presidential election. According to two opinion polls, Kamala Harris holds a lead of between three and six percentage points in the presidential race. This will be a boost to the Democratic Party as the party's four-day convention begins today in Chicago.

According to a Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll, Kamala Harris has 49% of support among registered voters, while Trump has 45%. Notably, the previous poll by the Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll showed President Biden and Trump tied at 46% of support each. At the same time, a CBS News poll gave Kamala Harris a 3-point lead. In the seven key states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina, Harris and Trump are tied 50-50, reported Al Jazeera. Americans will go to the polls to elect their next president on November 5.

Nearly 50,000 visitors are expected to attend the Democratic National Convention, including about 4,000 delegates. The primary function of the convention is to formally nominate the candidate of the party. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are slated to meet on stage for a debate hosted by ABC News on September 10.
