Dinesh Karthik retired from all forms of representative cricket at the end of the IPL 2024 season
Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has been named as the new batting coach and mentor of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The franchise made this announcement in a social media post on Monday. Notably, Dinesh Karthik retired from all forms of representative cricket at the end of the IPL 2024 season.
The 39-year-old represented several teams in the IPL, including the Mumbai Indians (MI), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and RCB. He was picked by RCB at the IPL 2022 mega auction and stayed with the team for three seasons. It was Karthik's second stint with the team, as he played in 2015 after being picked up at the auction by RCB for ₹10.5 crore. It is worth mentioning that he led the Knight Riders to the play-offs in his debut season as captain in 2018.
