The Indian embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) issued an advisory on April 19 to Indian passengers travelling to or transiting through Dubai International Airport. The Indian embassy has advised the Indian passengers to reschedule non-essential travel until operations return to normal.
In the advisory released on Friday, the embassy noted that the Dubai International Airport has temporarily limited the number of inbound flights due to disruption caused by recent unprecedented weather conditions in the region. The Indian embassy also said that the situation is unprecedented, and UAE authorities are working round the clock to ensure normalisation of operations.
Earlier, Dubai airport also urged passengers to come to the airport only after final confirmation from the respective airlines regarding the departure date and time of the respective flights. "In light of the above advisory, inbound Indian passengers travelling to or transiting through Dubai International Airport are advised to reschedule non-essential travel till operations normalise," the embassy added.
It is to be noted that the Consulate General of India in Dubai has also operationalized 24x7 emergency helpline numbers. These numbers, aimed at helping affected individuals, have been functional since April 17, 2024. The helpline numbers are: +971501205172, +971569950590, +971507347676, and +971585754213. Meanwhile, the UAE is working to recover from the intense rains recorded this week, which resulted in flooding in several locations.
