Makkah: As an extension of its projects concerned with developing historical sites, the Royal Commission for the Holy City of Makkah and the Holy Sites yesterday opened the area of Ain Zubaydah after developing it to be a cultural and entertainment destination.

The area contains a 1.2 km hiking trail in the vicinity of Ain Zubaida, and 6 diverse entertainment and cultural areas, which enrich the visitors’ experience and provide historical visual displays.

The authority noted that the area opens its doors to visitors three days on the weekend and continues until February 28.

The Ain Zubaydah stream is one of the most prominent historical landmarks in Mecca, as it has an exceptional place in the hearts of Muslims, as it was a source of fresh water and a rest stop for pilgrims coming to Mecca. The Ain Zubaida stream embodies a symbol of the rich history and heritage of the Holy City.

The project to develop and rehabilitate the area of Ain Zubaydah reflects the care given by the Royal Commission to the historical areas of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and is working to develop them to enhance cultural and heritage awareness, enrich the experience of residents and visitors coming to Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and enhance history
