Saudi Arabia and KSrelief launch 24 Humanitarian Aid Projects in Somalia
Mogadishu, Somalia: In a significant move to support the people of Somalia, Saudi Arabia and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) have jointly launched 24 humanitarian aid projects in the country. These wide-ranging initiatives encompass food security, health, education, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), aiming to benefit nearly 6 million individuals. The total value of the donations amounts to USD 45 million.
The launch ceremony, held in Mogadishu, witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries including His Excellency Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre; His Excellency Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha; Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Somalia, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Muwallad; and Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia and Supervisor General of KSrelief.
Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Supervisor General of KSrelief, expressed his support for the Somali government's relentless efforts in addressing humanitarian challenges faced by the Somali people. He highlighted KSrelief's commitment to contributing $45 million to launch a comprehensive range of humanitarian initiatives in the country. These projects not only underscore the close bonds between Saudi Arabia and Somalia but also demonstrate the Kingdom's dedication to providing assistance during crises.
The successful implementation of these projects will be made possible through collaborative efforts with esteemed partners such as the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Population Fund (UNPFA), International Society for the Care of War Victims and Disasters, Regional Mission of OIC, Somali Ministry of Health, Zamzam Foundation, Al Wafa International Foundation, Norwegian Refugee Council, World Food Programme (WFP), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Social Solidarity Association, and Rahmah Charity Society.
The establishment of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) in May 2015, under the guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, reflects Saudi Arabia's unwavering commitment to global humanitarian efforts. Operating in over 95 countries, KSrelief upholds principles of fairness, objectivity, and collaboration with international organizations, striving to provide aid to those in crisis across the world.
