Dubai has decided to elevate public beaches in the emirate to world-class standards. The Higher Committee for Urban Planning and Well-Being announced the projects worth AED355 million to develop Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 Beaches. Both projects, slated for completion in 18 months, mark a significant shift in beach design. The development of public beaches in Jumeirah 1 and Al Mamzar is a component of the continuous initiatives to build sustainable infrastructure for all beach and coastal facilities.

The beaches will have extensive infrastructure with cutting-edge amenities and services. This includes Dubai's first beach dedicated 24/7 to night swimming in Deira, a 5 km pedestrian path connecting the two beaches, and 11 km of cycling and running tracks surrounded by trees. A 200-metre-long floating bridge connecting both sides of Al Mamzar Beach is also part of the project. This will be the first of its kind in the emirate. Apart from these, there will also be recreational play areas, children's playgrounds, beach rest amenities, and seasonal event spaces with secured entrances and exits. Additionally, the development comprises of parking spaces for cars and buses, as well as dedicated charging stations for eco-friendly vehicles.

To ensure the highest level of safety, beach rescue services will use modern AI-assisted technologies, along with enhanced surveillance through over 100 modern cameras. According to the Dubai Media Office, the project will be executed while keeping the beaches partially open to the public.
