US Elections: Kamala Harris To Release Medical Report Confirming Fitness For Presidency
Harris’s campaign is aiming to put pressure on Donald Trump to publish his own health records
US Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign is reportedly planning to release a report on her medical history and health information. With this move, Harris’s campaign is aiming to put pressure on Republican White House nominee Donald Trump to publish his own health records.
According to a senior Harris aide, the report will say that the Democratic Party candidate has the physical and mental resiliency to serve as the US president, reported CBS News. Notably, Donald Trump has also not released any information about his health. Because presidential candidates are under no requirement to share health records, campaign-season medical reports are part of an effort to draw a contrast between the 59-year-old Democratic nominee and her 78-year-old Republican rival.
Age was a major concern for voters in the US when 81-year-old President Joe Biden was seeking reelection. In an NBC News poll released last April, 70 percent of adults said Biden should not run again. Asked if age was a factor, 69% of them said yes, reported The New York Times. Meanwhile, in an interview with CBS News, Donald Trump said he would "gladly" release his medical records and added that he recently had a medical exam and had a "perfect score." If elected in the upcoming election in November, Donald Trump would be the oldest president in the history of the country by the end of his term.
