X, the popular microblogging platform, is rolling out a controversial update to the block feature. The latest update allows blocked users to see posts of the accounts that blocked them. However, blocked users still will not be able to follow the person who has blocked them, engage with their posts, or send direct messages to them. Several users have expressed their concern over the policy change.

The update now also lets users see the following and followers lists of the people who have blocked them. The Elon Musk-owned platform said that it wants to prevent the misuse of this tool for sharing harmful or private information about someone. The company has also updated its support page to reflect the change. The engineering team at X says that the change is for “greater transparency.”

Block is a feature that helps users control how they interact with other accounts on X. Elon Musk has denounced the feature multiple times earlier. "These block lists are annoying. It achieves nothing to “block” public posts. Time to get rid of block in favor of stronger mute," said the billionaire in a post on X in March.
