Deadline Approaching for Removal of Abandoned Cars in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Beyond Absher: Saudi Arabia's Digital Drive Tackles Traffic with Abandoned Car Initiative
Riyadh, Saudi authorities are urging citizens and expatriates who own abandoned cars to take action before the upcoming deadline on March 1. The government platform Absher has announced that owners of these vehicles can revoke their registration through accredited centers.
In collaboration with the General Directorate of Traffic, Absher has launched a convenient service that allows car owners to easily locate accredited centers across the kingdom where they can apply for revoking the registration of different types of vehicles.
Last year, the Saudi government extended the deadline by one more year to provide owners with ample time to remove their abandoned cars from registrars. However, this extended deadline is now quickly approaching.
Absher has recently introduced a range of new services as part of its efforts to transition towards digital time-saving services and make them easily accessible to the public. These services include transferring car ownership among family members, issuing car driving licenses directly from showrooms, transferring motorcycle ownership, issuing motorcycle driving licenses, and renewing upgraded driving licenses.
These innovative services have been made possible through partnerships between security authorities and organizations such as the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA) and the International Information Centre.
Since its launch in 2013 by the Kingdom's Interior Ministry, Absher app has provided Saudi citizens and foreign residents access to a variety of government services. Over time, it has expanded its scope beyond basic functions like applying for jobs or renewing passports or residency cards. The digital transition in Saudi Arabia has gained momentum since the global pandemic hit.
Don't miss out on this opportunity! If you own an abandoned vehicle in Riyadh or know someone who does, encourage them to take advantage of this deadline extension by visiting an accredited center before March 1st. Let's work together towards cleaner streets and smoother traffic flow in our beloved city!
