The event included in-depth talks about the importance of traffic safety and ways to improve sustainability in transportation.
The Road Safety and Sustainability Conference and Exhibition, hosted by Saudi Arabia's Roads General Authority (RGA), concluded its sessions in Riyadh. The event, held on November 3 and 4, gathered over 1,000 road experts and specialists from more than 50 countries under the theme “Innovating for Tomorrow.”
The event included in-depth talks about the importance of traffic safety and ways to improve sustainability in transportation. Moreover, the conference highlighted over 130 scientific papers and 27 innovations and technologies. The event concluded with key recommendations, including enhancing the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in smart traffic signals to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and lower carbon emissions. It also recommended enhancing lighting at critical points and using renewable energy for public lighting.
Additional recommendations included expanding the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to determine optimal locations for emergency centers, especially in high-traffic areas. The proposals emphasized how crucial it is to implement AI solutions for road safety, traffic flow monitoring, and high-risk area identification in order to improve traffic systems' sustainability.
